Antonino Cardillo: unusual narratives

He is the most radical architect in my selection. He creates tension and a strong atmosphere. He has a sharp sense of interior design. The use of rustic textures creates tension, and his interiors have a strong atmosphere. I am very fond of the Crepuscular Green project for an art gallery in Rome. The different shades of green create a unique artsy air. The narrative is cohesive and aims to unfold people’s imaginations. The budget was tight, but the result is excellent, as the concept is so strong. The architect says: “The lack of resources aligns with the idea of architecture as a discipline that transcends the ordinary.”

Antonino Cardillo was born in Sicily in 1975, and studied classical architecture in Rome. “The use of colour and texture is inspired by the greenish dawn of a scene from Wagner’s Das Rheingold”, he says about the project, whose furniture and lighting pieces bear his signature.
